Solution Marketplace
Expanding user access to shared solution templates
Project Context
Laserfiche is a business process automation and enterprise CRM suite of applications that allows users to set up complex automations and integrate them with other business software. There is a vibrant and passionate community of users that interact with Laserfiche and they love to share their ideas with each other. They are passionate about solving problems faster and with more efficiency. The Solution Marketplace is a central hub that would allow customers to freely share, purchase and sell solutions and integrations built on the Laserfiche platform.

My Role
I took on the role of Lead UI/UX designer through the duration of this project.
The Challenge
Laserfiche had a published version of the marketplace already online, but engagement was low and the design lacked the flexibility needed to add additional features important to the customer and business needs.
We broke the problem into three objectives:
Determine the features necessary to modernize the current marketplace when compared to direct and indirect competitors.Allow users to upload/share solutions that they have created.
Support resellers to get their customers up and running as quickly as possible by finding and using proven solutions in the marketplace.
Discovery
In order to determine which features we would include in the redesign, the PM and I began by compiling a comparison chart on similar types of marketplaces that were both direct and indirect competitors. We decided to focus first on the pages that would show the most amount of information, called the “Listing Page” to get an understanding on what we would need to collect from the user to populate their solution.
I chose 6 sites that shared similar feature sets and design language that I felt were close to the model we wanted to achieve.
Across those 6 sites, I found that of the 26 general features, 10 were found on every site. They included:
Name
Icon
Publisher
Call to Action
Rating
Reviews
Short Description
Long Description
System Requirements
Categories
When compared to the existing Laserfiche Marketplace, I found that only 6 of these features were being utilized.
From this point I worked with the PM of the project to determine which features would be part of the MVP, and which we wanted to add in the future. Some of the features, (i.e name, description and call to action) were obvious and necessary to include. Other more complex ones (i.e. ratings and reviews) required more technical development and while important, were not necessary for the MVP. These features were noted and were slated to be added in a future update.
Solution
Once we had a good understanding of where we could enhance the marketplace, I began the iterative process of creating wireframes for review. I needed to create a clean and organized layout that could potentially present a lot of information to the user, while still being true to the Laserfiche Design System.
During this design phase, I collaborated with and presented to the marketing department for feedback and guidance.
